Best of the West
8am – Noonish, Six Passenger Limit, $195 per person
Set Adrift on Sustainable Bliss
Six people max – aboard the 34 ft. Power Cat, Alaka’i The elite intimacy of our whale watching (year-round ), dolphin swimm
ing, and turtle snorkel tour, because you care – and if it’s worth doing, it’s worth doing right.- tailor made semi-private or private tour experiences, your day will be as individual as you and yours are.
Guests will likely experience at least two – usually all three – of the following (Mother Nature willing). Our marine mammal sighting rates are 99.5%:
Nearshore Swimming with Wild Dolphins with pre-encounter briefings on dolphin “wet-iquette (how to swim with wild dolphins)” along with having an in-water guide, keep encounters safe and sane for both dolphins and you.
Year-round whale watching – Humpbacks aren’t the only whales in Hawaii! Our onboard hydrophone picks up and broadcasts underwater singing and vocalizing, an added bonus (and tool for location of whales!). Exclusive blue-water whale encounters give access to 18 species of toothed dolphins, 6 baleen whales, and 22 species of seabirds in Hawaii – including rare and often endemic species.
Guided Snorkeling Tour with sea turtles and tropical reef fish, many only found in Hawaii With your personal in-water snorkeling guid
e, you won’t miss a thing.
Expert Educated Crew – of marine naturalists and wildlife biologists, so that you not only see and hear the wildlife, but come to know and care about it. They can also provide ample narration on the cultural sights and history of our coastline. Don’t hesitate to come with a list of questions – we have knowledge and passion about both the marine ecosystems, and the onshore communities we operate in. But as eager as we are to share, we equally respect your needs for quiet observation and time with your loved ones. We don’t get paid by the word 🙂
Give back: We’d love your help sighting species and gathering data (any babies? how many in pod?), while photos taken during your charter are contributed to Cascadia Research Collective for cataloging and publication additions.
The Alaka’i – Perfectly sized for a day-outing at 34 feet… at times getting close enough to (almost) touch dolphins riding the bow (you might get “spit” on!). Looking down between the hulls is like a glass bottom boat or sit in shaded cabin or up top with captain. Most like to warm in the sun of the roomy deck. Ample dry storage areas so bring your good cameras, and a private bathroom with room enough to change clothes.
“Words truly cannot express the life impact this tour has on you. Having the joy of seeing a pod of dolphins with two baby-calves swimming in harmony – checking out your boat, and then your humanness in the water – is truly amazing. I never care to see another captured dolphin again. .” TripAdvisor Review*

Wild Side adheres to the IWC’s General Principles for Whale watching to minimize the risks of impact.
Reservations especially for holiday peaks, winter and summer seasons are recommended to be made at least two weeks ahead of time. Though we will take ‘last minute’ bookings if we have space, your chances are much better to book ahead of time.
An exceptionally stable, unintrusive, vessel; the Alaka’i has the flexibility (3 1/2 + hours) and speed to go where magic happens. *With all cruises, a portion of proceeds and/or boat space is dedicated to the Wild Dolphin Foundation.
