changing team environment. Biology degree/background and/or boating, lifeguard, culture and research experience needed. (Wildlife volunteer experience a plus). Looking for a long term career in marine conservation and enjoy educating the public about marine life and Hawaiian culture and traditions (sense of place). Prefer year-round availability, morning into early afternoon hours, and especially over winter whale season to include Christmas, and Spring Break. Part or full time hours.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

Educate guests on Hawaii’s coral reef, marine mammal, shark and pelagic bird species

Teach current marine environmental issues and solutions, on a personal level.

• Instructed guests on the connection between marine environment and Hawaiian culture.

• Guide in-water excursions, assist swimmers in the water – be 1st responder in emergencies

Respond to safety concerns

• Instruct guests on proper reef and animal etiquette, interpret wildlife behavior

• Instruct guests on snorkeling techniques, water safety, possibly dive for mooring buoys, handle anchors

• Perform daily cleaning and maintenance on interior and exterior of boat

• Maintain snorkel and safety gear.

• Organize supplies, managed boat inventory.

• Train volunteers.

• Use DSLR cameras and GoPro’s – Photo Identification for Research

Handle lines for departures and docking

Will need to obtain CPR/First Aid/Lifeguard certification and pre-employment drug test to be hired.

USCG Captain Position

We love and count on our Captains to help to facilitate all of our conservation, research, and educational efforts. If you are an experienced captain with a USCG license and enjoy working with people please send your resume with a copy of a current USCG license.

Position Requirements:

*Current Master Credential 25 Tons or greater upon near coastal waters.
*Must complete a pre-employment drug screen and take random drug screens
*Become or stay current on American Red Cross lifeguard certification (Dive Master, Dive Instructor, or similar certification will complete this requirement).

Responsibilities:whale watching

1.) Command of the vessel. The captain is responsible for its safe and efficient operation, including operation, navigation, crew management. All persons on board, including crew, other staff members, passengers, and guests are under the captain’s authority and are his or her ultimate responsibility. The captain is responsible for the cleanliness and seaworthiness of the boat, all equipment on board and safe mooring in all weather.

2.) Professional in performance, attitude and appearance from start to finish. Support, maintain, and enforce company philosophies while keeping harmony among the team, guests, and self.

3.) Effective teamwork and appropriate communication with crew, office staff and mechanics. Maintain logs of safety drills, and maintenance records. Arrange for boat to be fueled/fuel. Arrange for the boat to be restocked with supplies/gear, and/or repaired giving clear details for diagnosis.

2.) Seasoned ability or eager to learn to maneuver boats and to secure and check lines in cases of inclement weather. Basic+ knowledge in boat mechanical and electrical maintenance, ability to perform routine maintenance and pre-flight checks. Knowledge of ocean currents, tide changes, wind and wave strength, and direction.

Social Media Team Members

Responsibilities include:

Posting our provided wildlife, culture and marine conservation photos and video along with a caption you write that is engaging, captivating, factual and educational, cultural and conservation oriented.

Answering back to comments, DM’s, and some emails (i.e media inquiries).eye to eye with bottlenose dolphins in Hawaii

Know video editing in i-movie or other programs and how to use instagram, tiktok, youtube, twitter and facebook required.

Pay: Contract rate with minimum # of posts per platform required and bonus levels built into the contract, contract renewal and raises are based on performance.
